Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the temperament of your German Shepherds?

Our German Shepherds see what I need before I do, and they give 200% to whatever it is. Whether it’s alerting to a snake in the grass while our children play barefoot… blazing a new trail… or cozying up on the couch… they excel with nuance. They have a silly side and a regal one. There’s no other breed of its equal.

Do you offer German Shepherd puppies for therapy, sport, companionship, or protection work?

Yes. Most of our families want German Shepherds for companionship and protection. They are very athletic for sport work and both Ruby and Cooper excel as therapy dogs.

How big will my German Shepherd get, and what is their typical lifespan?

Male German Shepherds from West German Show Lines weigh around 85 lbs. Female German Shepherds from West German Show Lines weigh 65-72 lbs. Most German Shepherds live between 8 and 13 years old.

What do I need to know about grooming, shedding and general care?

Regular brushing with a brush that cares for the undercoat will keep your German Shepherd’s coat healthy all year long. Regular nail trims keep their paws healthy. Softer chew toys can preserve their dental health.

What health testing have you done?

We choose rigorous health testing. Our sire and dam have passing hips and elbows through PennHIP, OFA, and/or SV. They are DM clear. They have clear heart, thyroid and Embark Panels. They’ve passed over 255 health conditions! Ask us more about this. It’s our passion.

Can I visit your German Shepherds and meet your puppies?

Call or text us for an appointment. We’re happy to introduce you to the pups, parents and our family.

What lifetime health guarantees do you offer against congenital issues like dysplasia or DM?

We offer a lifetime health guarantee against congenital issues like hip dysplasia or DM. We’ve never needed to use it, but it’s there if you do.

How much does a German Shepherd puppy cost? What is included in the price?

German Shepherd puppies for sale in Colorado and Utah range in price from $1,000 to over $8,000. Most breeders will include current vaccinations and a going-home kit. The differences in cost are based on bloodline quality, health testing, number of litters, and the level of care given to each puppy.

What training do you recommend?

It helps to have a clear management plan for new puppies. Do not let them roam the house until they can prove they’re trustworthy. Ask us about how we know! Obedience skills take time. Choose the training program that will help you reach your goals.

Are you ready to add joy and protection to your home?

1. Connect with us

We start by learning about you – your home, experience with dogs, lifestyle, and what you’re looking for in a German Shepherd. We’ll answer your questions, share how we raise our dogs, and help you understand what makes our program different.

Once we understand your goals (family companion, working prospect, sport dog, or protection-minded home), we carefully match you with a puppy whose temperament, drive, and structure best fit your needs.
